Verdict

Tata has given the Curvv a fairly unusual update. Rather than chasing headlines with a new engine or a dramatic redesign, the company has gone after something arguably more important to buyers: how much car you get for your money. The new Tata Curvv Series X arrives in India with a reshuffled variant line-up, more equipment on lower and mid-spec versions, and a wider choice of Dark Edition trims. Prices start at ₹9.99 lakh ex-showroom and stretch to around ₹19 lakh for the range-topping versions.

That makes the Tata Curvv Series X less of a conventional facelift and more of a strategic reset. The distinctive SUV-coupe shape remains largely untouched, and the three-engine line-up continues as before. Instead, Tata has moved features that once required spending considerably more money further down the range, potentially making the Curvv a much easier car to recommend to buyers who don’t want to chase the top variant.

Read More: Maruti Baleno Facelift Launched at ₹6.10 Lakh

Tata Curvv Series X: What Has Actually Changed?

The biggest change is hidden in the variant table rather than visible from the outside. Tata has reorganised the range around six main variants — Smart X, Pure X, Pure X+, Creative X+, Accomplished X and Accomplished X+ — with selected versions also available in Dark Edition guise. The nomenclature now carries the X suffix throughout the range, making the new structure easier to distinguish from the earlier Curvv line-up.

The clever bit is what happens as you move up the range. The Pure X, for example, now gets a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, automatic climate control and other equipment that previously required moving further up the Curvv family. The Creative X+ adds features such as a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and a larger digital cockpit.

In other words, the Tata Curvv Series X is trying to make the middle of the range the sweet spot. That matters because most buyers don’t walk into a showroom wanting the cheapest possible car or the most expensive one; they want the variant that gives them the features they will actually use without making the monthly payment unnecessarily painful.

The ₹9.99 Lakh Starting Price Needs a Closer Look

Tata has positioned the Tata Curvv Series X price at ₹9.99 lakh for the entry point, but the variant and powertrain combinations make the range considerably more complicated than that headline suggests. The starting figure applies to the entry petrol configuration, while automatic, diesel and higher-equipment versions climb progressively through the range.

The interesting change is that some of the traditional price gaps have narrowed. The petrol-to-diesel premium has been reduced to around ₹1.30 lakh, while the step from manual to automatic is also around ₹1.30 lakh in relevant configurations. That makes the automatic version slightly easier to justify for buyers who spend most of their time in urban traffic.

Tata Curvv Series X Variant

Starting Price*

Smart X

₹9.99 lakh

Pure X

₹10.99 lakh

Pure X+

₹11.79 lakh

Creative X+

₹12.90 lakh

Accomplished X

₹13.99 lakh

Accomplished X+

₹18.49 lakh

*Ex-showroom; prices vary by engine and transmission. Dark Edition versions carry an additional premium on applicable variants.

More Equipment Where Buyers Actually Want It

This is where the Tata Curvv Series X features story becomes more interesting. The entry Smart X isn’t exactly bare-bones, with six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, hill-hold control, LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster and reverse parking assistance included. Tata has also fitted its R-Comfort seats with passive ventilation to the entry version, which is an unusual feature to find this far down a car’s range.

Move to Pure X and the equipment list becomes considerably more appealing. The 10.25-inch infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, cruise control and automatic climate control are now available without having to climb to the expensive end of the range. The Pure X+ adds Oyster White leatherette upholstery and larger alloy wheels, with the Dark Edition also becoming available.

The Creative X+ is where the Tata Curvv panoramic sunroof and 360-degree camera enter the picture. It also gets an additional 10.25-inch digital cockpit, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and other convenience features. For many buyers, this could prove to be the point in the range where the Curvv’s equipment and price strike the most convincing balance.

Level 2 ADAS Is Still Reserved for the Top

Tata hasn’t spread every piece of technology across the range. Tata Curvv Level 2 ADAS remains a premium feature, reserved for the Accomplished variants at the top of the line-up. That package includes advanced driver-assistance functions, while the higher versions also gain additional comfort and technology equipment.

The Accomplished X and Accomplished X+ also bring ventilated front seats, a six-way powered driver’s seat, ambient lighting and the more premium audio and infotainment setup. The X+ goes further with a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, while the range-topping package adds features such as an air purifier, connected-car technology, twin-zone climate control and wireless charging.

So while the Tata Curvv ADAS story remains a top-end affair, Tata has made the rest of the range considerably more interesting. That’s arguably the more important change for actual sales.

The Engines Haven’t Changed

There is no mechanical revolution hiding underneath the Series X badge. The Tata Curvv engine options continue with two 1.2-litre turbo-petrol units and a 1.5-litre diesel.

The standard 1.2-litre turbo-petrol produces 120hp and 170Nm, while the 1.2-litre direct-injection T-GDI develops 125hp and 225Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel makes 118hp and 260Nm. The standard turbo-petrol and diesel can be paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the T-GDI is offered exclusively with the seven-speed DCA on the top Accomplished X+ variant.

That means the Tata Curvv Series X isn’t trying to fix the Curvv’s mechanical package. Tata clearly believes the engines already give the SUV-coupe enough choice, and the bigger opportunity lies in making the equipment structure more attractive.

The Dark Edition Gets More Interesting

The blacked-out Curvv has also become easier to buy. Tata is expanding the Tata Curvv Dark Edition to lower points in the range, with Dark versions available from the Pure X+ level and above. These versions bring the expected blacked-out exterior and darker interior treatment without requiring buyers to jump straight to the most expensive Curvv.

It is a small change on paper, but an important one for a car whose biggest selling point has always been its styling. The Curvv’s coupe-SUV silhouette already stands out in traffic; the Dark treatment simply turns the volume up.

The Design Hasn’t Been Reinvented

If you’re expecting the 2026 Tata Curvv to look substantially different, there isn’t much here to get excited about. The fundamental coupe-SUV profile remains intact, with its sloping roofline, flush door handles, LED lighting and distinctive rear treatment carrying over.

There are detail changes, including a black grille treatment and revised wheel and colour combinations. Tata has also rationalised the exterior colour palette, dropping some previous shades and introducing a more focused selection. The important point is that Tata hasn’t tampered with the Curvv’s most recognisable asset: its shape.

Read More: Electric Two-Wheeler Sales in India Cross 1 Million

Tata Curvv Series X: Why This Update Matters

The Curvv arrived with plenty of attention because it looked unlike anything else in Tata’s passenger-car range. But a striking design can only get a car so far. As the novelty wears off, buyers start asking the less glamorous questions: Which variant should I buy? What equipment do I get? How much extra do I pay for the automatic? Do I really need the top trim?

The Tata Curvv Series X appears to be Tata’s answer to those questions. Instead of simply adding another feature to the top variant, the company has redistributed equipment through the range. The result is a Curvv that makes more sense before you reach the expensive end of the price list.

That’s particularly relevant in a market where buyers are increasingly comparing features across variants rather than simply comparing badge against badge. The Curvv’s unusual design gets people through the showroom door; this revised equipment strategy might make it easier to get them to sign the paperwork.

Tata Curvv Series X FAQ

What is the Tata Curvv Series X price in India?

The Tata Curvv Series X price starts at ₹9.99 lakh ex-showroom and rises to around ₹19 lakh depending on the variant, engine, transmission and Dark Edition configuration.

What are the Tata Curvv Series X variants?

The range consists of Smart X, Pure X, Pure X+, Creative X+, Accomplished X and Accomplished X+, with Dark Edition versions available on selected higher trims.

Does the Tata Curvv Series X get Level 2 ADAS?

Yes. Tata Curvv Level 2 ADAS is available on the higher Accomplished variants, rather than across the entire range.

Has Tata changed the Curvv engines?

No major mechanical change has been made. There is no headline-grabbing new engine or dramatic redesign, but Tata has addressed something that matters considerably more when you’re actually buying the car: the distribution of equipment across the range.

Moving useful features into lower and mid-spec variants makes the Curvv easier to recommend without forcing buyers towards the most expensive version. The panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, better infotainment and comfort upgrades arrive earlier, while the top variants retain the serious hardware such as Level 2 ADAS and the premium cabin technology.

And that’s probably the right move. The Curvv never needed to become louder; it needed to become better value.
